Introduction

Timeline is a Claude Code mod for long sessions: a pane beside the transcript with one card per prompt.

  • Cards: your ask in one line, → what Claude did, a grey line of files and commands it touched (counted, no model involved), and ⚠ errors word for word.
  • Jump and follow: click a card to jump to that turn; scroll the transcript and the card you are reading stays marked.
  • Search by meaning: the box at the top or /timeline find <words>.
  • Usage line: context window, 5-hour and 7-day limits.
  • Commands: /timeline toggles the pane; lang sets the summary language, replies off saves tokens, cost shows summary usage.

Summaries are written by Haiku on your own Claude account, only while the pane is open, once each; the author measured 118 prompts at 3.8k input and 1.9k output tokens. The author states it has no network, file or process access of its own; summaries live in the plugin store. Requires Claude Code 2.1.287+; with the fullscreen renderer (/tui fullscreen) the pane sits beside the transcript, otherwise below.

Who it is for

  • People in long sessions who want to jump back to a turn
  • People who want to see which files and commands each turn touched

Requirements

  • Claude Code ≥ 2.1.287
  • With the fullscreen renderer (/tui fullscreen) the pane sits beside the transcript; otherwise below.
  • Summaries use Haiku on your account; /timeline replies off cuts that.
