Introduction
Sidekick is a Claude Code mod: describe a persona in one sentence (/sidekick new Rudy, a blunt senior Rust dev) and Haiku generates its name, glyph, voice and catchphrase; that sidekick then drives your session.
- Replies are headed with its glyph and name, the spinner reads "Rudy is on it…", and the question dialog says "Rudy asks". The persona is told to ask short questions when it needs a decision and keep replies brief.
- The first sentence of each reply is spoken in a macOS voice;
/sidekick muteturns it off. - Talk mode (
/sidekick talk) is hands-free: when you pause, your words go in as the prompt; talk over it to interrupt; say "stop" to cancel a turn. A band above the prompt shows listening / speaking / working. - In talk mode questions are read aloud and you can answer "the second one"; after two misses the normal dialog opens.
- Ships with Ada and Rudy; personas persist in the plugin store.
Requires Claude Code 2.1.287+. Speech out uses macOS say (Linux and Windows stay text); voice in is a locally compiled Swift listener (needs swiftc from the Xcode Command Line Tools plus microphone and speech-recognition permission). The README lists every program it runs, file it writes and thing it sends. The preview is illustrative.
