Please install the Claude Code mod "Recall" (https://github.com/joseairosa/recall-claude-plugin). Before installing, read the Security and Requirements sections of its README and tell me what it reads and writes, which commands it runs, whether it uses the network, and which Claude Code version, OS and terminal it needs. If everything looks fine, run claude plugin marketplace add joseairosa/recall-claude-plugin and claude plugin install recall@recall-claude-plugin, then remind me to run /reload-plugins in my session.Send this to Claude Code so it reads the author’s instructions before installing.
git clone https://github.com/joseairosa/recall-claude-plugin

Reads
YesReads the Recall config and API key, the session repo and git remote, and Bash calls and output.
Writes files
YesWrites a heartbeat file under ~/.claude/recall every 15 s; the scripts also save config and state.
Runs commands
YesThe mod starts no process; the plugin's shell hooks run bash scripts, some using python3.
Network
YesSends memories and reads status from recallmcp.com or your Recall server, and calls its MCP.
Introduction
Recall is Jose Airosa's cross-session memory plugin (backed by the hosted recallmcp.com or a self-hosted instance). Since 1.18 it ships a Claude Code function hooks mod (hooks/register.js, Claude Code 2.1.287+). In the terminal and Desktop the mod:
- draws Recall's row above the prompt: its name, the workspace, memories saved this session, recent activity and version, plus an update hint when a newer Recall is out;
- records failing shell commands (redacted) and sends them to Recall in the background, instead of starting a script per command;
- confirms the workspace and retries a Recall call once when the session lost it (asks for
set_workspacepermission the first time).
This is the whole plugin: installing it also adds the Recall MCP server, commands, subagents and shell command hooks for SessionStart, PreCompact, Stop and more (bash, some need python3), plus an optional status line script that drops its Recall segment while the mod runs. You need a Recall API key via /recall:setup or RECALL_API_KEY; without a backend the mod has nothing to show. VS Code's panel, claude -p and --bare do not run mods. The preview is illustrative and not tested by this site.
Who it is for
- Recall users who want its status visible in Claude Code
- People who want failed commands saved into cross-session memory
Requirements
- Claude Code ≥ 2.1.287
- Needs a Recall API key (recallmcp.com or self-hosted); run /recall:setup first.
- Installs the MCP server, commands and shell command hooks too; some scripts need python3.
