Introduction

ghost-proc-guard is a Claude Code function-hooks mod that, before Bash starts dev servers such as npm run dev, Vite, Next or uvicorn, figures out ports and folders and refuses a launch when the port is taken or the same folder already has a server. It understands monorepos and git worktrees, tags allowed launches with a session marker, and offers a /procs pane to stop tracked process trees. No network. It runs lsof, ps and git worktree, and kill only when you press Stop. Author tested on macOS. Needs Claude Code 2.1.287+. Preview is illustrative.

Who it is for

  • People who juggle worktrees and keep spawning duplicate Vite/Next servers

Requirements

  • Claude Code ≥ 2.1.287
  • Platforms · macOS
  • Author tested on macOS; session ownership uses BSD ps -E.
  • Only Bash launches from Claude are checked, not servers you start yourself.
