Introduction

Exit Memory Update is a Claude Code function-hooks mod: on /exit or /quit it asks whether to write durable session learnings into the project's CLAUDE.md. With the official claude-md-management plugin it runs that revise skill; otherwise it submits a fixed prompt so Claude edits under your usual permissions. A status line shows while updating, then a band summarizes and counts down to exit. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+D and /clear skip /exit so the prompt never appears. The author says the mod itself does not read or write files or open its own network sockets; choosing Yes still triggers a model turn in-session. Needs Claude Code with function hooks. Preview is illustrative; not run-tested here.

Who it is for

  • People who open many sessions on one project and want learnings saved to CLAUDE.md

Requirements

  • Optional: install claude-md-management from anthropics/claude-plugins-official for the official revise path.
  • Use /exit; hard session ends skip the prompt.
