Introduction

Code Race is a Claude Code mod: while Claude works, race other Claude Code users at typing, right above your prompt.

  • /race joins the public room, which waits 10 seconds for players and fills empty seats with bots; a Race button also appears beside the spinner while Claude thinks.
  • Up to four people type the same line: half code (TypeScript, Python, Go, SQL, shell, CSS), half doc-style notes. You type in the message box, mistakes turn red, Enter sends nothing during a race, and your draft comes back afterwards.
  • The finish shows place, WPM, accuracy and Rerace; in the terminal each racer is a running Clawd.
  • /race friend makes a room with a five-letter code, /race join <code> joins it, /race top shows the leaderboard and /race nick sets a name.

Per the author it sends a random player id, your nickname, and race progress and mistake counts (plus a room code for friends' rooms); what you type is compared locally, and nothing from your sessions, prompts or code is sent. The server is the author's Cloudflare Worker; offline you race bots. Requires Claude Code 2.1.284+ (below this site's 2.1.287 baseline), terminal or Desktop. The preview is illustrative.
