About this mod
claude-code-notify is a completion-notification script for Claude Code on macOS. It uses a Stop hook and offers sound, banner, or combined notification modes, making it useful when you switch to another task while waiting for a response.
How it decides to notify: a debounce timer groups successive Stop events. By default, focus detection keeps the script quiet when your terminal is active. Notifications can show elapsed time; terminal-notifier supplies richer banners, with a basic system-notification fallback when it is unavailable.
Before using it: follow the author's installation and dependency instructions, then restart Claude Code. Debouncing waits for a quiet interval; it is not a guarantee that every task is fully finished. The configuration file controls the sound and waiting interval.
Who it’s for
- macOS developers who often leave the terminal window
- People who want a small completion-notification setup
