Introduction
Claude Ambient is a Claude Code mod that puts a living scene band above the prompt; /ambient picks the scene.
- Eleven scenes: aquarium, bonsai, city skyline, stars, weather, train, Game of Life, heart monitor, fireplace, digital rain and a lofi desk.
- Fed by Claude's work: each tool call becomes a fish, star, wagon and so on by kind; failures bring a shark, a blackout or a storm; turn ends bring feeding time, fireworks or a station. The bonsai grows across sessions and the skyline lasts the day.
- Sound:
/ambient sound onadds a bed and short sounds for a call, a failure and a turn end, all synthesized in code; macOS only. - Real sky:
/ambient weather <city>makes the weather scene follow live conditions.
The author states it reads only tool names and whether calls failed, reads no files, runs no processes and never changes prompts or tool calls; settings live in the plugin store. Only the real-sky option contacts Open-Meteo. Built and tested on Claude Code 2.1.287; needs the terminal or desktop app.
