Turn Inspector is a Claude Code function-hooks mod from claude-code-templates. Run /turns to open a side pane that draws every model request as a turn: its input (system prompt, tools and memory, earlier turns, the new message or tool results) stacked above its output (thinking, text, tool use), with a bar showing how full the context window is. Turn totals come from the API usage and are exact; per-block splits are estimates marked ~. Turns are grouped by prompt, expandable, and compaction is flagged. Subagent requests are not listed (agent-flow covers those). It only observes events. Docks beside the transcript in fullscreen layout (110+ columns), above the prompt otherwise. Installed via npx into a trusted project. Author: on by default in 2.1.287+, 2.1.259–2.1.286 need CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1; tested on 2.1.296. Preview is illustrative.
