Please install the Claude Code mod "Session Band" (https://github.com/JohnnyVizz/claude-kit). Before installing, read the Security and Requirements sections of its README and tell me what it reads and writes, which commands it runs, whether it uses the network, and which Claude Code version, OS and terminal it needs. If everything looks fine, run claude plugin marketplace add JohnnyVizz/claude-kit and claude plugin install session-band@claude-kit, then remind me to run /reload-plugins in my session.Send this to Claude Code so it reads the author’s instructions before installing.

Introduction
Session Band is a Claude Code function hooks mod from JohnnyVizz's claude-kit repo. It draws one band above the prompt with the session at a glance:
- Turn and speed: the turn number and the output speed of the last response (tok/s).
- Cost: the cost of the last turn and of the whole session.
- Cache countdown: how long the 1-hour prompt cache has left since the last answer; amber frame at 20 minutes, red at 10.
- Context: a context fill bar.
The row drops details as the window narrows instead of wrapping; × hides it for the session. At 10 and 5 minutes left it sends a system notification (never while a turn runs). On macOS you can build a small notifier app with notifier/build.sh (needs Xcode command line tools) for titled, click-to-open notifications; otherwise it falls back to Claude Code's own notification (which also reaches your phone over Remote Control), or a toast when you are already at the session.
Commands: /session_data shows or hides the band; /session_data demo <minutes> previews the colors and warning.
The author says mods use the early-access function hooks API and were tested on Claude Code 2.1.286, before this site's 2.1.287 baseline; it may change between releases. If the marketplace install does not show up, load it with --plugin-dir. The repo's savvy-flow is a skill and not part of this entry. The preview is illustrative and not tested by this site.
Who it is for
- People who want session cost and output speed always in view
- People in long sessions who want to resume before the prompt cache expires
Requirements
- Claude Code ≥ 2.1.286
- The author only says it was tested on 2.1.286, before the 2.1.287 baseline.
- Optional macOS notifier helper needs Xcode command line tools to build.
