About this mod
Serena gives Claude Code and other MCP clients IDE-like semantic tools. It can retrieve code by symbol, find references, and perform structured edits, helping an assistant reason about functions, classes, and their relationships beyond text search and line numbers.
Backends and setup: the project documents a language-server backend and a JetBrains integration. Capabilities depend on the backend and language support; some languages require additional dependencies. Other tools, including memory features, can be configured for the client and workflow.
Before using it: follow the author's Quick Start and Claude Code client instructions rather than potentially outdated third-party marketplace commands. The Serena application uses GPL-3.0-or-later, while SolidLSP uses MIT. Semantic navigation helps locate a change, but edits still need the project's relevant checks.
