Introduction

LaTeX Inline is a Claude Code mod that typesets $…$ and $$…$$ math in Claude's replies. In Ghostty, cmux and kitty (outside tmux) MathJax with Fira Math renders formulas as pictures at text size; elsewhere they become Unicode text such as e^(iπ) + 1 = 0.

It supports \(…\), \[…\] and AMS environments; math in tables, headings and quotes becomes Unicode, code is left alone. In fullscreen mode a mouse copy puts formulas back as LaTeX on the clipboard (it briefly reads the clipboard; copy_latex=false disables it). On 2.1.296+ fullscreen, \texttip/\mathtip show hover cards. Where it draws pictures it adds a short system-prompt section, and it works beside Mermaid Inline.

Requires Claude Code 2.1.287+ in a terminal, macOS or Linux; pictures also need Node.js 18+ with npm. No effect in Desktop, VS Code or claude -p. Per the author it makes no network requests and caches PNGs in ~/.cache/latex-inline. Scores are docs-calibrated, not run-tested; preview is illustrative.
