Introduction

Claude Image View is a Claude Code mod that draws numbered thumbnails above your prompt when you paste images. It preserves their aspect ratios, shrinks them to fit, and clears them when you send the prompt or delete the tags. Every 200 milliseconds it checks the prompt and reads PNG headers from the session image cache; the terminal renders the pictures. It requires Claude Code 2.1.287+, macOS or Linux, and a terminal with the kitty graphics protocol. Other terminals show image tags; Desktop already previews images, so the mod draws nothing there. It writes no files and makes no network requests. Without CLAUDE_CODE_TMPDIR it runs id -u once. The preview is illustrative.
